And of course this comes to us via a Japanese gameshow, I especially liked the part where they zoomed in on the hosts face and makes the ‘OOOOO!!’ look for us, then his face changes color

If by “bare handed” you meant “with a thick leather glove on his hand” I see what you mean.

Gloved hands are still considered bare hands for such a maneuver. If I was attacked by a bear, and killed said bear without any weapons, but had gloves on, would you not say that i “killed it with my bare hands”?
